First PGH Motor Neuron Disease (MND) Lay Forum

On June 27, 2022, the Department of Neurosciences conducted the first Motor Neuron Disease (MND) Lay Forum in Guazon Hall and through Facebook live. This was spearheaded by Dr. Mario Prado, a neurophysiology specialist and attended by 6 Filipino patients with MND. The lecture was given by Dr. Karen Adiao where she gave an overview of the disease, diagnosis and treatment. All the attendees were able to share their experiences. The objective of this activity was also to create a support group for MND in order to establish a support system and database for these patients. It was a fruitful and inspiring event for all of the consultants and residents who attended. It is the hope of the Department of Neurosciences to conduct this yearly lay forum to promote and increase the awareness of MND.
